Inbox rules and limits
-
New address and Delete address
After New address or Delete address, both buttons stay locked for 10 minutes for everyone on your network. A first address does not wait for that lock. New address does not delete the old inbox: it keeps receiving mail until it expires. When local storage is available, Recent inboxes on this browser lets you reopen a limited number of earlier random inboxes while they are still live. Delete address deletes the address and its messages immediately.
-
Receiving only
The inbox receives mail but cannot send, reply or forward. There is no spam folder: every message the mail server accepts appears in the same list.
-
Checking that mail arrives
There is no built-in test message. To check delivery, send a short email to your address from another mailbox you use. If yours arrives but a website’s does not, read that website’s error message and retry rules.
When a message does not arrive -
How messages are shown
Messages open in a reader that removes scripts, forms and embedded frames. Images hosted by the sender are blocked until you choose Show images for that message. Loading them may tell the sender you opened it. Attachments download only when you choose them.
-
Coming back to your inbox
This browser saves a reference to the address, not the messages, so other tabs and later visits reopen the inbox while it lasts. Another browser or device does not see a random address, and clearing site data forgets it.
-
Choosing your own name
With a verified account you can choose the part before the @. The name stays reserved for your account, and after signing in you can reopen that inbox in any browser while it lasts. It still expires like any other inbox.
-
When the countdown ends
Reloading the page or checking for mail does not add time. When the countdown reaches zero, the address refuses new mail and its messages can no longer be opened. Periodic cleanup then deletes expired addresses and their messages from the server. For an account you want to keep, use an address that lasts.
Temporary email or an alias?
What is a temporary email address?
A temporary email receives messages for a short time. It gives a sender somewhere to reach you without sharing your everyday address.
Before you rely on one, read what happens when an address expires, see how 10 minute mail compares, and learn when a Gmail alias or plus address is the better choice.

How do I use this inbox?
Copy your address from the inbox, paste it into the form you are using, and return to the inbox to read incoming messages. Keep the inbox tab open while you wait, and use Refresh if a message does not appear.
How long does an address last?
Each domain sets its inbox lifetime. The countdown shows the remaining time reported by the mail service. Save anything you need before it expires; expired inboxes cannot be recovered.
Can I receive verification codes?
The inbox can receive email messages, including codes and links. Delivery depends on the sender, and some services reject disposable addresses. An email inbox cannot receive an SMS code.
